In short the The American College for
Advancement in Medicine (ACAM) is a not-for-profit association dedicated to
educating physicians and other health care professionals on the latest findings
and emerging procedures in complementary, alternative and integrative (CAIM)
medicine. ACAM is the voice of integrative medicine; our goals are to improve
physician skills, knowledge and diagnostic procedures as they relate to
complementary and alternative medicine; to support integrative medicine
research; and to develop awareness of alternative methods of medical treatment.
ACAM enables members of the public to connect with health professionals who
take an integrative approach to patient care and empowers people with
information about integrative medicine treatment options.
When I first started my research into
chelation therapy there list of health professionals was very short. It has now
grown into a very large data base. There web site gives their members and the
type of services they render by state, city or zip code. My home state of
Colorado now shows 20 different health professionals when I was doing chelation
therapy it showed one member. Even more astounding my town has had only one
person doing chelation and in the last two years there are now four who belong
to ACAM and there might be more who do not belong. Many MD's forgo membership in
ACAM but still do the therapy.
