Brief History Of  IV and Oral EDTA Chelation Therapy
EDTA Chelation therapy was first noticed to have an effect on the circulatory system in the early 1940's. Sailors, ship fitters and battery industry workers were all developing lead poisoning from there work. EDTA had been developed in the 30's as an industrial chelator and then increasingly used in the medical fields.

To this day, this is the recommended and approved medical procedure for lead and other heavy metal removals by both the FDA and the medical community. It is also approved for the treatment of hypercalcemia (an excess of calcium in the blood.)

EDTA (ethylenediamine-tetraacetic acid) is a chelating agent that binds with metals, minerals and toxins such as lead, mercury, calcium, etc and removes them from the body by way of the kidney's. The EDTA also removes arterial plaque the same way. EDTA is used as an anticoagulant for preserving blood specimens and is used as a food preservative as well being found in almost everything we eat.

As an aside here. Heavy metal poisoning and environmental toxicity is increasing dramatically in the U.S. population at this time. Lead is found in more children than ever before and is very prevelant in certaain professions such as potters, battery makers and repair, lab welders, engravers, medical profesionals and hairdressers.

During the IV Chelation treatments for lead poisoning which fixed the patients lead poisoning problems an unexpected result occurred. It was found that there was a marked improvement in the circulatory status of patients who also had atherosclerotic conditions. (Hardening of the arteries or clogged vessels for us non-medical types.)

In the early 50's research by doctors started in earnest with many leaders in the field in the forefront of this research. The published works of these professionals as it  relates to the treatment of arterial disease using EDTA is available on this site as well as other web sites from around the world.

A quote by Elmer M. Cranton M.D.

"This therapy has been proven effective over and over again in clinical practice," says Dr. Cranton. "More than one million patients have received more than twenty million infusions with no serious or lasting adverse effects."
