Many people today suffer from what is often broadly referred to as "heavy metal toxicity." The most common source of toxicity is mercury from dental fillings. When the so-called "silver" fillings are put in the teeth, they are roughly 49-53% mercury.

Since 1988, the Environmental Protection Agency has required dentists to treat amalgam fillings that are removed as hazardous waste. However, the various regulatory agencies as well as American Dental Association insist that putting "hazardous waste" in the mouth is safe.

Just in the last few days of June 2008 the Federal government quietly and without fanfare admitted by default that a 9 year old girls autism was caused by mercury that was contained in her vaccine.

The dangers of heavy metal poisoning has been known for many years. Most metallurgist warn everyone to avoid mercury and never to use aluminum.

EDTA, the organic chemical ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid, was first synthesized in Germany in the 1930s. In the bloodstream the EDTA molecule acts like a catchers mitt. The EDTA molecule catches the heavy metal molecule as they pass by in the bloodstream. However EDTA has preferences as to which molecule it favors most.   EDTA is water-soluble and chelates (catches) only metallic ions that are dissolved in water. The normal PH of the blood is pH 7.4 and at that PH the EDTA catches dissolved metals in this order. It's favorite metal is iron,  and then mercury, copper, aluminum, nickel, lead, cobalt, zinc, iron, cadmium, manganese, magnesium, and calcium in descending order.

Even though lead is way down on the list and the heavy metal mercury is closer to the top lead poisoning was what EDTA was first used for in the 1940's. If you recall the history, it was used for the workers and sailors who were building ships during world war two at the Brooklyn Navy Yard. And it was here that they found that when the men were given iv chelation therapy for the lead poisoning their angina and circulating improved immensely.

Chelation therapy has been used successfully with over 200,000 children with lead poisoning with no side effects. Most of these children got the lead poisoning from eating lead based paint. This lead based paint is not used anymore and is specifically warned about every time you buy a house in most states.

There are other chelating methods and natural substances which also can be used to remove heavy metals. The most well known is the Chlorella and Cilantro combination developed by Dr. Dietrich Klinghart.

There are many MD's now recommending that people take EDTA orally every day like multi vitamins to ward of the dangers of the heavy metals. These heavy metals are increasing on a daily basis in the air we breath, the food we eat and the water we drink.

Chlorella a very nutrient dense member of the algae family can also reove mercury from the body.
